Baltimore, MD - Building on a previous announcement to extend the 2019 Quality Payment Program reporting deadline to April 30, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has provided additional guidance for MIPS eligible clinicians and groups.
- Clinicians and groups not reporting any data by April 30, 2020 will have the four performance categories re-weighted to 0 and automatically receive a neutral payment adjustment.
- Clinicians and groups submitting data on two or more performance categories will be scored on those submitted categories and receive a 2021 MIPS payment adjustment based on those submissions.
- If no MIPS eligible clinicians in an alternative payment model (APM) entity submit data for the Promoting Interoperability or Quality performance categories due to extreme and uncontrollable circumstances, the cost performance category will be re-weighted to 0 and the Improvement Activities category will be scored as usual. The APM entity will have its PI and Quality scores re-weighted to 0 and the clinicians in the APM entity will receive a neutral payment adjustment.
